UPSL Announces SoCal Expansion with White Tigers FC

Founded in 2019, Escondido (Calif.)-Based Pro Development Club Joins UPSL

August 2, 2019 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce White Tigers Futbol Club as a member kicking off with the 2019 Fall Season.

Based in Escondido (Calif.), White Tigers FC will begin UPSL Division I play in the Western Conference San Diego Section and is finalizing its home venue in compliance with UPSL's Minimum Standards.

United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "San Diego is one of United States' great soccer hot spots, and we're excited to welcome White Tigers FC to the UPSL San Diego Section. The UPSL will have a full complement of teams in San Diego this Fall Season, and we're excited to be a part of the growth of the game in one North America's great cities. We look forward to supporting Mr. Yoo's vision for his club, and wish White Tigers FC the best of luck as it prepares to kick off this season."

Sung Hyun Emmanuel Yoo Lopez is Owner White Tigers Futbol Club. A native of Mexico, Yoo Lopez, 30, graduated from Escondido (Calif.) High School and played professionally in Mexico's second division. He currently is a business owner in the retail industry.

White Tigers Futbol Club Owner Sung Hyun Emmanuel Yoo Lopez said, "I want to take this to the next level, so that way I can help players move on, get scholarships and even play professional soccer. That's my goal. That's my motivation. In the future, I want my players to play professional, and when they're asked where they played, they'll say, 'White Tigers FC'."

Jorge Piña is Head Coach of White Tigers FC. A native of Mexico, Piña was signed by Chivas Guadalajara and played professionally in Mexico's second division.

Gustavo Ramirez serves as Assistant Coach for White Tigers FC. A native of Mexico, Ramirez was signed by Club America player and played professionally in Mexico's second division.

The club soon will announce its upcoming game schedule.

About White Tigers Futbol Club

White Tigers Futbol Club is an American Soccer club currently based in Escondido, Calif., and a new member of the United Premier Soccer League. White Tigers FC will begin play in the UPSL Western Conference.

Founded in 2019, White Tigers FC can participate in the qualifying rounds for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation and membership with the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).

United Premier Soccer League

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 300 teams in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 400-plus teams targeted for 2019 Fall Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining either UPSL Pro Premier Division or Championship Division minimum standards.

UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
